Designed as a “space for wonder, surprise and dialogue,” the exhibition showcases ten new designers, celebrating the way “heritage and innovation can coexist and feed off each other,” according to Bruno Pavlovsky, President of 19M and President of CHANEL SAS. Curated by five personalities, the project revolves around a mission of transmission and reflection on the reinvention of tradition through gesture. Designed by the ATTA agency – Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects – the scenography unfolds in five movements, following the five elements.
From Jeanne Vicerial to Xavier Veilhan, Harumi Klossowska de Rola to Simone Pheulpin, artists have inspired works then crafted by artisans. The art of ajiro-bari weaving dialogues here with the pleating work of Atelier Lognon at Maison Lemarié. Master Zengoro Eiraku's ceramics are pierced and embellished with flowers and insects embroidered by Atelier Montex. Forms, gestures, and materials respond to each other, sublimated by the sense of expression. Between introductory workshops, conferences, and performances for all ages, the program reflects a generous ambition that celebrates the enduring spirit of beauty without borders.
