Valette’s Spirit of Travel

Graduated from the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and trained at the Isabel Marant studios and the Maison Saint Laurent, designer Pierre-François Valette launched his brand in Paris in 2020. VALETTE STUDIO strives to reinterpret the men’s wardrobe while respecting a classic construction, he introduces some softness for giving a more contemporary look. Particularly attached to the transmission and the sustainable future, he values both traditional techniques and the craftsmen with whom he collaborates.

How would you describe your new Spring-Summer 2022 collection?

My Spring-Summer 2022 collection is called “L’Esprit Voyageur”. This season, I have imagined a romantic desert adventurer in pastel colors, still inspired by tailoring, know-how and Couture traditions. As in each of my collections, the “Cool Tailored Suit” of the men’s wardrobe is reinterpreted, giving the silhouette a more contemporary and fluid look.

The choice of Summer colors inspired by Jean Verame’s Land Art work (salmon pink, pistachio green, denim blue, sandy camel, ecru…) as well as the choice of materials (sheer, cotton twill, technical woolen fabric…), a large part of which integrates a sustainable dimension, contribute to this idea of travel.

Always in a contemporary perspective, I think that the pieces of the VALETTE STUDIO wardrobe, this season, could seduce women as much as men!

Which look or piece best reflects the spirit of the season?

This look describes both the history of the collection and the DNA of VALETTE STUDIO.

• a two-tone blazer suit jacket in traditional cotton twill.
• a long raglan sleeve shirt with VALETTE STUDIO print.
• an oversized printed pants of tailor construction in cotton canvas.
• cords with vegetable tanned leather tips.

The idea was to create a tailored look – the jacket, the pants and the traditional manufacturing techniques – but casual and contemporary – the choice of flowing cottons, the prints of different sizes creating an optical effect and giving rhythm to the silhouette.

Did you want to convey a message with this collection?

This Spring Summer 2022 collection is certainly the most personal since the beginning of VALETTE STUDIO. The message of this collection is travel. The journey to discover what surrounds us. The journey to discover oneself. The journey to discover the other. The journey to discover ourselves through others. I think that in these times, it is important to remember that the other is not a danger but a strength.
