VICTOR WEINSANTO - LIFE IN PINK AND KHAKI

Interviews

“I’m still a child at heart, and I still try to turn life into a party,” says Victor Weinsanto. Born in Alsace, he chose to celebrate the energy of fashion when he created his brand in 2020, combining the theatricality of his shows with loyalty to his origins. By playing with all the colorus of the prism to cultivate regionalism and Parisian cabaret in a playful way, he continues to develop the spirit of his label. Here is an Alsatian woman elevated to neo-queer icon status. A Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and a former assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier, he has turned each season into a choreographed series of appearances. His Fall-Winter 2026 collection is part of the SPHERE Showroom, an initiative with the support of L’Oréal Paris and Le DEFI taking place at the Palais de Tokyo until March 10.

What was the inspiration behind this collection?
This collection explores the tension between the discipline inherited from dance and a free, almost untamed energy drawn from the Parisian clubbing and alternative scene, which has profoundly shaped my perspective and my creative language.

How would you describe your colour palette?
The palette moves between deep, almost nocturnal blacks and shades of ash pink and military green, which gives the silhouette a punk attitude that is free and provocative.

Which materials did you particularly enjoy working with?
This season we worked with wool jersey, cashmere, lace, and velvet for their richness, sensuality, and sophistication, which we contrasted with denim, faux leather, faux fur, and nylon that bring a more rebellious and contemporary dimension.

Who is your ideal fictional character?
A strong woman who never apologises for being one – like Samantha Jones from Sex and the City.

A film or book that continues to fascinate you?
At the moment, I’m rediscovering the series Charmed. Like many millennials, it left a strong impression on me when I was younger.

A childhood memory that determined your vocation?
As a child, I was always lost in my own world, as my mother says. I would run home between classes just to dress up before going back to school.

A neighbourhood or place in Paris that you especially love?
I never say no to a walk along the banks of the Seine, a magical place that transforms with the passing hours, day and night.

How would you define yourself today? Your aesthetic?
I would say I’ve recently gained maturity, both emotionally and creatively. The changes in my personal life, as well as the significant encounters I’ve had, have contributed greatly. But while I feel wiser today, I haven’t lost any of my childlike soul, and I still try to turn life into a celebration.

Your mantra? Your lucky charm?
“Life is a celebration; it’s up to me to write the music.” And my little dog, Lady, is my most precious good-luck charm.

Your vision for 2026 and any projects ahead?
The year 2026 marks a decisive step for our house, which is currently expanding. We are dedicating considerable energy to refining our offering so that it responds precisely to the expectations and evolutions of the market. Since last June, we have also initiated a strategy aimed at developing and nurturing a community of VIC clients and brand advocates, notably through the launch of a couture and made-to-measure service, as well as improvements to our B2C e-commerce.

A destination that reflects who you are?
Bali, the destination of our honeymoon. A precious moment, forever etched in my heart.
