Which is the main trend you forecast for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2021 season?
Last season, SSENSE continued to explore the ever evolving landscape of modern masculinity, and this focus will continue into Spring/Summer 2021. We’ll likely see a large focus on tailored and timeless pieces and the driving trend will see consumers yearning to get dressed up again. We’ll ease away from the loungewear and sweats some people have become accustomed to while working from home, and many will strive to feel sexy and chic again.
Are you changing the way to select brands and to edit the collections?
Being headquartered in Montreal, Canada and since SSENSE carries hundreds of brands, our team is accustomed to purchasing via line sheets and virtual appointments when in-person has not been possible. There hasn’t been much of a shift in our strategy in terms of selecting brands or editing the collections. Part of this continued strategy is seeking out and supporting new and culturally diverse brands and talent, and we will continue to do so in the coming season. Deliveries have been delayed and shifted due to production considerations, and it’s interesting to see how this will shift the industry standards going forward.
Have you observed any change in customer behaviours?
In recent months, as more people are working from home, online shopping and comfortable attire has been top of mind for many. SSENSE customers continue to shop across all categories from ready-to-wear to accessories and footwear. Beyond fashion, consumers are becoming more environmentally and socially conscious, and understand the impact of buying and supporting sustainable and socially responsible companies.
